Center Street Cleanup Project

Nomen Global Student rolled up their sleeves for a good cause this past week: cleaning up the community. Students raked, swept, and cleaned out dead leaves from last fall from the grass, streets, and sewer drains on 2 blocks of Center street in downtown provo.

Andrea's Poetry

Hi, my name is Andrea Dietrich. I'm a wife, mother, and grandma who loves to have fun! Also, I am the teacher of the TOEFL integrated class at Nomen Global who also loves teaching grammar. I have been teaching at Nomen Gobal now for about 9 years and I love it! I have met so many awesome students who have passed through our school on their way to universities or back to their countries with more knowledge of English! In my free time, I like to see movies and I do reviews of them in a magazine called Shadow Poetry Quill (SPQuill). In addition to teaching and watching movies, I have another interest that has become huge in my life. In 2000 I started writing poetry. I had no real reason for it, just felt like doing it! Since that time, I have grown a lot as a poet. I have learned many things, joined a club that recently bestowed on me the title of "poet of the year" and have also been a judge for various poetry contests. I have also entered many contests myself, some that gave cash prizes, and one time I won an award that gave me not only $100 but also a $300 publication deal. Some of my poetry can be viewed in ShadowPoetry's community of poets or under the contest winners for ShadowInk and the seasonal poetry contest at ShadowPoetry. The six chapbooks I have already published are on display in my classroom for anyone curious to see how a poetry chapbook is typically put together. Also, I do volunteer editing for ShadowPoetry's magazine, and in this spring's issue, I will have the honor of appearing as the featured poet. The picture to be used in the magazine is this one shown below with a link to ShadowPoetry for anyone interested in checking out the poetry bookstore and all the services that ShadowPoetry's website offers for poets or those who just like reading poetry. It's been a good year for me in poetry, and I hope it will be a good year for all my friends and students here at Nomen Global!
